  • Admire the life-size exhibits and learn about the times and life of John Brown at the John Brown Wax Museum.
  • Walk up the old stone steps to the 1775 Harper House, St. Peter's Catholic Church built in 1833 and the ruins of St. John Episcopal Church to Jefferson Rock for scenic views. Take a hike on the C&O Canal Towpath, the Maryland Heights Trail, a four mile round trip or the Appalachian Trail as it passes through town.
  • Rent a bike, try a canoe or raft float trip down the Shenandoah or Potomac Rivers or go whitewater rafting. The Visitors Bureau has information on local outfitters.
